Beginners Guide To is a coming-of-age series following Samantha Clarkson, and 14 year old girl who is about to face her biggest challenge yet: high school. Through the ups and downs of new friendships, relationships, self-identity, work, and more, she has to conquer her way through the halls of Richards High School. These book jackets play into the challenges of high school through the appearance of a carnival, with symbolism weaving into each other the jackets.
Through whimsical typography used around the snacks one would find at a carnival, the eye is drawn to the title through the deliciousness of the snacks. The colorful imagery in the shape of a carnival setting also creates an interesting cover that stands out when placed on a shelf at the stores, and grabbing the reader to judge by the cover when always stated not to.
